How to run a straight fork steerer tube in a tapered head tube?

You need a reducer crown race.

^^^^^ This

The only difference is the fork crown race, usually about $10 from Niner or FSA Online Stores.

FSA Integrated Crown Race Reducer - For straight 1 1/8" fork use

Hmm, I ordered the reducer for my Air 9 Carbon and well, the bottom bearing of the headset does not seem to fit properly onto the race reducer -- and yes, I did select the one from the Air 9 Carbon page.

Basically the reducer is a bit to large it seems, and does not fit snug into the bottom bearing ... seems to slide around a bit. Once I got it installed, it seems quite a bit more steady but I can feel a little instability.

I also have a head tube question ..I'm building a 2011 EMD , 1 1/8 straight head tube ...is there a Headset made to make it a zero stack intergrated ?,becuase I want to keep the height down and the external headset seem to be larger diameter then the headtube ...looks to bulky for me

The EMD has a 34mm HT, the steering tube is 28.6mm, there is no way to fit a bearing between the two to make an internal headset...

Thanks G7 , something I wanted to throw out there before, I head for the external headset search for something atleast the same width as the outside diameter of the headtube...So far Cane Creek s-8 is the choice so far
