How much woul you pay for this EMD

A guy here in town has this EMD up on Craigslist:

    Niner E. M. D. - $1600 (Spartanburg SC)

He is asking $1,600 but might take a bit less and seems pretty eager to sell. I have a bike on ebay at the moment and would think hard about getting this one if mine sells.

Seems like a pretty good build, but I am not a fan of the sweep back handlebars and it has been a long time since I used grip shift, so that might be a couple hundred I would need to spend up front to replace those parts. I know nothing about a Manitou Minute fork.

Considering that you can get a decent new EMD for about $2,100, what would be a reasonable offer for this one?

These are the specs that he has listed:

Ritchey Carbon Fiber Seat Post and Stem. Minute 29er Shocks, ZTR 355 29er wheels, Hayes Disc Brakes, Time Pedals.

The rear der. is X9 9 speed. The shifters are grip shift. The crank is 2 x 9 but I'm not sure what brand. Headset is Chris King. It looks like a pretty nice build.

I am buying the bike for $1,400. I checked it out and it has really nice light wheels, 9 speed grip shift, x-9 derailleurs, Chris King Headset. The Minute fork has a remote lock out. Tires are in good shape. It would probably go for north of $3K as a new bike, so hopefully I am not paying too much.

I agree. I'd offer 1100 and settle at around 1250 if he's truly a motivated seller.
