    Heavy Climbing WFO

    Hi, need WFO recommendations, I want to build a WFO for heavy enduro climbing and as well as descending...please your recommendation regarding shock, gears and wheels with good traction.
    Also I heard that a new 150mm Talas is already available...would like to use this fork.

    Iīm just order a WFO with the following equipment:

    Fox Talas 150mm CTD

    Stans Flow Ex Wheels

    Rock Shock Monarch Plus RC3

    XT Drivetrain

    Right now Im using some Kenda Nevegals in my Specialized Stumpjumper FSR 29er, very good tyres, very good grip in almost every condition.

    It seems that Schwalbe Nobby Nic have some good reviews, havent tried yet.

    If you want something to take the abuse, go with Hope Pro Evo 2 Hubs.

    Iīm taking some parts of my stumpjumper to the NIner:

    Chromag 50mm stem
    Crankbrother Opium Handlebar
    KS Adjustable seatpost.
    Hope Pro Evo 2 Hubs (front & rear)

    I have the Fox 32 140mm on the Stumpjumper, so far I dont like the flex it has when you brake hard.

    Last week I test the Fox 34 140mm in Santa Cruz TallBoy LTC and the handling improves a lot, as the stiffnes when braking cornering.

    Thanks Santiago for the feedback....I have the same FSR 29 as you have.....I also donīt like the flex and the avid brakes...
    I will go in the WFO with XT brakes...

    That was the first thing I change.

    I didnīt like the Formula brakes, as the levers tend to return slow.

    So far the best brakes I ever tried.

    I think you will find the WFO climbs well for such a stout descender. Keep it playful with carbon wheels like the "wider" CCC rims but stick with burly tires like the Hans Dampf and you should experience the best this bike has to offer. In my opinion the Fox 34 is mandatory, this bike is hampered by a smaller fork.

    People are using all manner of shocks on the WFO. The Monarch Plus that comes on the frame is a good option. I am using the Fox DHX Air on mine and I like it a lot. I have posted quite a few pics of the setup and riding photos in the WFO threads.

    You will love the WFO! Keep us posted what you decide.

    I will like a shock with a type of lock up.... what will be the recommended shock...as I mention previously a heavy climbing capability is mandatory...

    got a Fox RC4 on the WFO and surprisingly there is little to no bob on climbs..

    i9's has the best if not one of the best drive engagement mechanism i have ever used.. Hans Dampf for tires are well worth the $$$.. then i'd suggest a 4piston caliper for brakes to match the bigger rolling mass

    What about a Fox CTD for the WFO instead of the Monarch Plus R that is standard with this frame....which will be better for climbing

    For what I hear is better the monarch than the FOX.

    Just receive my bike last week and went straight to the DH track.

    Yesterday nigth ride and compared to the Stumpjumper theres no pedal bob even if you let the monarch open. Here I leave you a pic of the final build.

    Now I just need a chain guide to complete the build.

    Any suggestions??

    Heavy Climbing WFO

    A buddy of mine has a brand new WFO which he climbs a lot with. He decided to spec the front end with a dual position Revelation, which he likes. I went from a Fox 32/120 to a 34/140 on my RIP and notice a bit of a difference in corners and braking. With him at 260 and me at 165, I would imagine the difference between the Rev and the Fox 34 would be pretty pronounced. He does like the Rev at 110 for climbing, though I've had no real issue at 140 on my RIP.

    I have a 3X crank, with the outer ring replaced with a bashguard. I put the Blackspire Stinger on, and it appears to work well. I only have a few rides on the whole setup, though. I am on my work computer and can't post a new pic, but the pic is posted on this page if you want to see the setup:

    I just spoke with Niner and they told me that they will sell starting mid March a WFO with a 150mm Fox 34
