    Facing head tube

Has anyone ever done this to a SIR or MCR???

I am getting a clicking noise from the headset and its not loose. I am wondering if it is binding up from improper cup alignment.. Maybe i didnt press them in good enough....

But any way... Any one ever face there head tube?

I am building up a large air niner to replace the medium i bought that is to small and i put some blue machinest dye on the top and bottom of the head tube surface. This is to check if the head tube is faced correctley. When i installed the Park headtube facing tool and turned it around 2 times, it did not clean up all of the blue dye, telling me that the head tube should be refaced. After finishing the head tube i did the same thing to the bottom bracket shell and it also showed that it was not faced correctley. After finishing the bottom bracket shell i know that both areas are correctley faced.

It matters because Chris King headsets are well known for making that very noise. In fact, CK has essentially admitted the problem by now making a Cane Creek style split ring.

    More info here:

good news from King for longer forks
