    Does SAG affect pedalling efficiency?

I just went from 20% to 50% SAG on my jet 9 rdo finding it wayyy more plush and confortable. Now i am concerned if SAG affects pedalling efficiency.

FS bike manufacturers recommend a sag range that is the best combo of pedalling efficiency and plush. Generally, dual links can get away with a bit more sag and/or less platform setting.

That said, at 50% sag on your niner, my bet is the bike sits down into it's potential travel range, leaving less travel to deal with trail obstacles. You may also experience more bobbing than desired on climbs or when mashing - less efficiency.

I don't have a Niner suspension frame, but I can't imagine pedaling anything with that much sag in the rear without any negative effects. 50%'s a lot of sag. I'd echo everything moosehead said, along with running that much sag could also lower your BB height=more pedal strikes. I'd also imagine you'd be bottoming out the suspension frequently as well.

If you do like how it currently feels, maybe look into tuning your rear shock--different air can size or talk to Niner or a company like PUSH that deals in suspension tuning to see if there's a way to make feeling work for you with a more 'correct' set-up. But, if it works for you...
