Alloy RIP9 broken top shock mount bolt

Has anyone broke the top bolt that holds the shock to the swing link? Mine broke today, it was a pain to remove, I'm lucky to have a brother who is a machinist to help with the extraction. It seems that the bolt somehow got bound up in there - not sure if it bound up before it broke or after. Just wondering if I need to get multiple bolts from Niner just to have a spare handy.

One of those red anodized bits? If so it is aluminum, so it can be more fragile than stainless steel bolts... Did it break when you tried to unscrew, or the head popped off?

Its one of the red anodized bolts (its aluminum). It broke during a ride - my bike started making a weird squeaking noise during a ride. I might go to the hardware store and see if I can find a steel replacement, but I think its a very specific bolt.

Niner is sending me a new bolt, which is really nice, but I want to buy another one to have a spare too (they would only send me one). I'll have to go to LBS to get them to order one.

That's a relief, cause when I first read this I saw 'broken shock mount'. A broken bolt, while an issue, certianly is a minor one.

Agreed, minor issue, though extracting the two halves from the link was anything but minor. We used a combination of easy-outs, drills and taps to get the broken bolt out. I hope I didn't wreck the hardware on the shock, I have to wait until the new bolt gets here to tell for sure.
