    Air9 RDO 2012 vs 2013

I'm in the market for a fast and light frame, and I'm leaning toward the Air9 RDO. I have noticed a descent price difference between the closeout 2012 and the retail 2013. Help me decide which frame to purchase and if 2013 is really worth an addition $800. From what I can find on-line, the only differences the 104g weight reduction and different colors. The geometry hasn't changed. Dropout and BB are the same spec. Also would like to know if there is a difference in the internal shift cable routing and ease of running full length housing. I will be racing once or twice a year, but mostly I just like to go fast

    Thanks

I didn't know there was any difference in the two. I thought they were just phasing out the solid black and replacing it with arctic white. I bought a 2012 on closeout from my local dealer and love it. The cable routing was not a big deal. Of course I am only running a rear derailleur and I think the front is the more difficult of the two.

I saw that Big Kahuna Bikes had a medium Air 9 RDO for $1,050.00 plus $35 shipping. The Air 9 RDO is a sweet bike but a rough ride. Very stiff!!!!!

Just got my 2012 blowout black frame Air9 RDO with RDO rigid fork built up and first ride.

Very impressed with how compliant it is. Front is so precise and nimble with 15mm Maxle.

This is not a bike for rough trails especially rigid. This is for smooth single track ripping. That being said, riding my usual route finds me loosening my grip and arms and standing more to take the bigger hits and to better roll the undulating trails without issue. Death grip and sitting too much will be taxing on a long ride on rough trails.

Just waiting for SW Renegade 2.3 / SW Fast Trak 29 x 2.2 tires to add a little more "suspension" and a few other bits including Kettle Cycles carbon rotors. About 16.9lbs when all done. 15.6 with CX tires and a hell of a lot more fun and performance than a CX rig come race season.

radred - get that last med frame before they are all gone. $300 less than what I paid at BikeBling.

I called Niner - no difference between 2012 and 13 frames. Black wasn't as popular as they hoped. Looks great in person, but graphics are a bit too subtle in online photos. Hoping for 142 rear axle but not in the works just yet.
