2X10 For a North East MCR

Does anyone have any experience with a 2X10 on a Niner or 29er on the north east? Think mid/northern NJ/Southern NY/northern Delaware. My Titus Motolite has a 24/36 with a 11/34 cassette and i find myself mostly in the 36. Do you think that I'd be missing out going with the new Sram 2x10 stuff (looking at x9) instead of going with a 'traditional' 3x9 or would be gaining an advantage by going with the 2x10?

I moved to NE PA last summer, and my MCR had 2x9 drivetrain (24/36x11/32) and i've had no complaints. I'm not sure having the extra low 36t cog on the back is necessary, but as a concept I'm sure it'd be great.

Having the extra chainring clearance by having a bashguard instead of a 3rd ring was, IMO, a HUGE win though and will probably never have a bike with a big ring on dirt. 36x11 is plenty big enough for me, particularly with 29er wheels.
