    2013 Air 9 Carbon or 2012 Air 9 RDO?

I am looking to do some more mountain biking and racing this year and am looking at the awesome deals CC has on previous years Niner Bikes. Currently I have a 2010 Scott Scale (alum) XTR 970, Stans, F29 Fit etc, I am thinking of getting a new frame but using the same parts (maybe a tapered fork)

I have a done a few races, some Cat 2 some Cat 1 very much cross country orientated, I ride gears not interested in SS. I have done some 6-10 hour rides. I am 6'2" 180 with normal proportions for a tallish person.

I have read the press releases and the paid for reviews. This will be my only mountain bike, not a purpose built race bike, would the MTBR community recommend an 2013 Air 9 or a 2012 Air 9 RDO? They're essentially the same price when you figure in the BB adapter.

    Thanks for the input.

One of the guru's here might know better than me, but isn't it also pretty much the same frame? i.e. with the trickle down effect last years RDO is this years "Carbon"? give or take a few small features?

Personally I would go with a Niner Green Air 9 RDO if you can get one. I am not that inspired by the colour schemes of the 2013 Air 9 Carbons. But that's just me.

I've ridden both a lot and prefer the Air 9 Carbon over the RDO. The regular carbon just rides better in my opinion. The RDO is lighter but it gets more twitchy at high speeds. Benefit to the RDO is an extra bottle cage and 1/2 pound. Some disagree with me but the A9C is just for comfortable, stiffer where it matters and feels better at high speeds and through the corners.
