    nicolai ion sizing

    Hi,

I'm planning to get an ion but not quite sure with the sizing. I currently ride a medium santacruz v10. The ion medium looks a little shorter than most medium dh frames. I'm 5'7. Should I get the large or is the large too long for me?

I would say large is going to be too large for you. The mediums do come up quite a bit shorter than other manufacturers' medium DH frames, but a large Ion is still quite a bit longer than the average medium.

I'm just under 6ft and I rode a large and it felt just about right, but no way would I have wanted it any larger.

Whafe is well over 6ft and he rides a large also.

The border line between medium and large is around the 6ft mark. If you're a good few inches less then I would say you're definitely on a medium.

If you're in doubt, then maybe the Ion is not the right bike for you?

I don't think a setback seatpost will help. But if you can try it out, you might as well try it.

Reach and Stack at a Medium sized ION ST frame.
    reach 407mm stack 614mm

    FYI the V-10 (current nodel)
    Small
    Reach - 13.8"
    Stack - 22.9"

    Medium
    Reach - 15.1"
    Stack - 23.2"

    Large
    Reach - 16.5"
    Stack - 23.5"

Klunk that's pretty interesting, where did you get the figures from?

    Just for ease of use,

    407mm is 16"
    614mm is 24.2"

So a medium Ion is almost as long as a large V10.

wow! that's very helpful! I really wish all DH frame makers adopt this stack/reach geo. It will be so much easier for us buyers to compare the frames.

I am 6ft1.5" and ride a large(sometimes) and find it a very good fit.Strange sizes as Geetee said,There large seems to fit in-between most manufacturers medium and large.
