Hmm, I cannot second that. I rather believe most people don't like the hype that is being created by Magura around them. Lots of marketing blabla, scarce availability and astronomical pricing. Apart from that: Great looks, great stopping power and really lightweight. But hey, you can expect that from a Ferrari as well.

AttitudeBikes, thanks for sharing your nice pics.

That pic simply shows a plastics dummy of the PINION gearbox. A newer pic of this gearbox is to be seen at mtb-news.de. According to some rumors the PINION guys are already assembling the first gearboxes in series production for now. ALUTECH will show the Enduro bike "Fanes PINION" (1,2,3) at Eurobike 2011 (Fanes stands for a Northern mountain range of the Dolomite Alps, South Tyrol). They target a price point of remarkable € 2.599,00 (frame + gearbox).

One guy reported at the mtb-news.de forum that he has seen a NICOLAI Helius AM frame at the open-house last week that was ready for welding and should be presented soon at Eurobike in Friedrichshafen. The only relative "downside" of the PINION gearbox in comparison to the G-Boxx concept so far I can see is the lack of an elevated power output shaft which could incorporate the rear swingarm pivot, so that no chain tensioner would be needed. BTW, why not assemble a NICOLAI gearbox bike with a gearbox made by another supplier than Kalle´s UNIVERSAL TRANSMISSIONS GmbH? Even e.g. PORSCHE doesn´t make gearboxes inhouse but get them delivered by ZF and AISIN, yet their sportscars are still renowned as genuine PORSCHE cars, aren´t they?
