    My Helius AC 29er Melon

    Hi there.

Just got my frame and was asked in the colours thread to make a build thread, so here it goes.

    This is the frame

    A little detail

Im going to build it with parts from my hardtail, which will get some new and light parts for racing marathons on fireroads, and some new parts.

    My Helius AC 29er Melon-build.jpg

My calculations says 12,7 kgs or 28 pounds. We'll see how it turns out. The frame is 3,2 without shock..

What is that headtube gusset? Never seen anything like it on a Nicolai before?

Didnt know it was different from the standard really, but when I look at Nicolai.net that picture is a bit different I guess..

    Am stoked already.

Agree the head tube will be different to account for the frame being an XL....

    The 29ers are a coming....

Just so you can imagine this melon XL AC 29er...

    A little update

Finally got most parts and started building
Overview of the thing. Brakehose to rear brake is way to short

    Will be a nice cockpit

    Love the cable fasteners

A little love on the crank too

Too much picture taking and not enough bike building! Crack on and get it sorted and let us know what you think.

What stroke shock are you running?

No white rims Im afraid. Got some flows Im gonna use. Red hubs though

About the not riding, but taking pictures thing, theres a minor detail here in Norway at the moment, called snow. Lots of it actually. Have a peek at the WC Cross Country skiing next week and youll see what I mean. The WC is taking place about 2 km from where I live

That reminds me, time for some XC skiiing

Im getting a new shock for my Helius ac 29. RP23 or monarch I think. The confusing thing for me now is which size schock. I ordered the frame in november 2010. I think helius changed shocksize from 2010 to 2011?
So how do I know wether to get 200x51 or 200x57mm?
Any Nicolai experts who may know? Nicolai themselves are on vacation it seems. OK I might wait a week for them to get back, but Im not good at waiting.
