    Whafe, You need to make a point of doing the Mega. It's a truely awesome event with such a variety of trails.

    I've got some video of the event as well which I'll post as soon as I can get it edited and figure out how to post it.

    Which kneepads are those? I am looking for some pedal friendly kneepads that still offer protection and have been eyeing the POC Joint stuff (mostly, since I have other POC Bone gear and besides the stiching issues, I like it). It looks like yours didnt move around too much, and have some nice side padding and such. Did they work out well for that kind of racing? Suggestions/recommendations? Thanks, and great shots! Someday maybe.....

    It's Troy Lee Designs T-Bone gaurds. I have two pairs of these, a pair of 661 Kyle Straits plus Alpinestar Moab and Race Face Rally knee/shin gaurds but tend to use the T-Bone gaurds all the time. The 661 Kyle Straits are more comfortable and pedal friendly but I prefer the extra security and padding they offer to the 661's plus they do stay put. Both are great pads but the T-Bone's are more hard-core at the expense of a little restriction just depends on what type of trails you ride. Although I've hardly used my 661's my mates use them regulary and they haven't aged well with stiching coming undone and badly ripped yet the T-Bone's still look like new.

    I haven't tried or even seen the POC's in the flesh but they get great reviews.

    I use Dainese Revolutions for xc/trail and Raceface Fr pads for DH/FR.
    Theres quite a difference between them,The Dainese are lightweight and cool and the Raceface are massive,Heavy and sweaty but offer more protection.

    I hear you - Horses for courses. Kyle Straits for epics, T-Bones for most things and Moab's / RF Rally for DH/FR especially when using flat pedals with big pins. Plus for a weeks riding at the Mega you really want more than one pair .

    It's a superb event, a true mountain bike race for all with a great variety of trails and terrain. This was my second time at the Mega and I'm totally hooked so I'll be back again next year for more of the same. If you love riding mountain bikes you'll love riding the Mega course.

    Make sure its a good pair of pads as the rocks at Alp D'Huez eat knees for breakfast. I was using Raceface DH leg armour, but these were ripped off due to the force of the impact, ended up getting 14 stitches on my knee and had to miss my qualifier and race this year. Had 4 days of great riding before my crash and will be back next year.
