Headset for CC - advice please

So, following on from my earlier thread, I've jumped in for a CC - very excited!

I'm robbing 90% of the parts from my Specialized FSR - trying to keep cost to a minimum here - and thankfully most everything will fit (I hope!!)

Looking for some help on headset though. It is standard 1 1/8th head tube. I recall there is a need for a deep headset though, or am I making that up?? Wanting to keep costs reasonable so was looking at something like a 30 Cane Creek S3. Will that do the job or do I need something more specific?

    Thanks!

No need for a deep insert headset on the cc. Ac upwards require them as they're longer travel, bigger hitting frames

i have just ordered an AC and was going to use my old chris king headset from my Turner 5 Spot which is standard.

Why do i need a new deep insert if at all?

Nicolai advise that you fit a deep insert headset(22mm) to their long travel frames. Not everyone does but you won't be warrantied if you ovalize the head tube.

Tech specs are on the nicolai website. AC and above are all 22mm insert(assuming 11/8th). I cant actually see the cc specs for some reason but from memory it only requires 12mm

The 2 options vie used are chrisking steel set(heavy) and an Acros. The across is very light and very high quality. It would be my choice

I run a Hope in my CC, can't see why a Cane Creek S3 won't do if you're keeping the cost down
