ETA ? How long was your wait for your frame ?
I searched for a thread of waiting times but found no info.
I am completely prepared and happy with approx 12 weeks until i get it ... will give me some time to change my mind over the build components
I just thought it would be informational and interesting to see how long people waited and the frame type they waited for .
I would say some of the rarer frames .... eg folding helius might have a longer wait as from what i hear they are done in batches .
Please post Frame type and time from "ordering" till "frame in hand"

I got mine within a few days but i was VERY lucky as Dipper had it in stock
Hopefully it wont take too long for you bud, just with the unusual paint job etc its a full custom frame really!
Are you getting the 12mm maxle rear? I cant recommend it enough!

No im QR back end derek. Time will tell .
Is it not just a case of buying new rear hangers if i want to change it at a later date ?

Nah if you buy QR you'd need a whole new back end as the 12mm back end is maxle so the dropout (hanger) is threaded but the non drive side has a 12mm hole not 10mm like the QR frame.
What you can run tho is a 10mm bolt thru DT Swiss RWS which is a kind of bolt thru for QR dropouts.

derek's is the 2nd hand, thrashed to death shop demo, which i had the opportunity to cane within an inch of it's life before dipper passed it on to him, unsuspectfully
my wait was 9 months.
registered interest in the bike on news of it's creation in Feb 2008 and took deliveru in November 2008.
was it worth the wait ? yes. it's a true 160mm enduro cycle, that will do anything i want in the UK.

.... bloody hell dek , thats a kick in the ass !
BTW its worth it anyway .... think 3 months before you ordered , where were you? ... did you even think of ordering a nicolai .... maybe , im still not sure i should spend $8K on a full build ... ... but at least i have the best frame on the planet to put whatever i want onto ! NICOLAI !!!!

I waited 7 1/2 weeks for mine.

Simon, you talked it to death for 6 of those 9 months and then still had the brass neck to pester me everyday for the following 3 months after it was ordered. like it was my fault you couldn't make up your mind!
Nicolais estimate is @ 8 weeks not 12 Ozzy. Simons just took a bit longer for some reason.
-
fair enough - 8 weeks - lets set the stopwatch and see what happens.
to be fair, in February when Dipper first mentioned it, it was gossip and rumour. in fact, we told the UK importer about it's emergence
no matter what the wait is, you will love the ride capability.

I had mine within six weeks (Ion ST). It would have been four but Interbike got in the way and the frame sat in its fedex box at the Nicolai factory for 10 days because no one remembered to call fedex to collect!
I think, but don't know for sure, that Nicolai will have a sort of batch schedule whereby they do manufacturing runs of each frame at set intervals. They collect orders in between and then sit on them until they have enough to do a batch. So if you put your order in for an Ion the week before they're scheduled to start building Ions, the wait could be a lot less than if you had ordered a Helius.

There are many really small builders out there that have a long backlog.
I know several that are 3+ years out.
One guy can only build so many bikes each year...

On the other hand. Who else would build you a custom FS bike in the first place?

Helius CC & 8 weeks!
Well worth it..

Well a good and bad and ugly topic......
I waited 7 months for my Nucleon TFR........ 14 weeks for my Helius FR, 8 weeks for my FMXTB and 2 days for my ION ST ( yeah baby, quickest turn around order in the history of Nicolai)
3 months is an easy and well worth it wait...... It is always hard, but well worth it, to own a piece of kit made by Nicolai is a gift......
Look forward to seeing your build..
