Deep insertion headset & headtube options

I'm looking at picking up a Helius FR frame and am narrowing down my options. 1.5" head tube is one of the upgrades I'm considering but I see that Nicolai will only honour a warranty with a deep insertion headset (22mm) so this may be overkill.

First question: What headsets have you guys fitted that meet the warranty required 22mm insertion depth? (CK Steelset is the obvious choice, but once it's in it'll likely never come out!)

Second question: Any comments on the 1 1/8th to 1.5 tapered option?

    Thanks!

Hi Assemblur, I believe you only need a Fetset with 1 1/8th....1.5 use normal 1.5 head set like Cane Creek, FSA etc. Consider 12mm rear maxle (no extra charge now I believe?).On comparisons of different steerers see this months mbr mag.....1.5 is the stiffest....with 1.5 you can always go either way.

Assemblur have you checked this thread?

I for one opted for the FSA Orbit Xtreme Pro Deep Cup since it was the lightest of all, and I had had a good experience with FSA headsets before. 14 months later, it's still running ok.

I hadn't seen that thread, so my appologies for not taking the time to search properly here first. It's clear you've already done all the legwork and it's appreciated!

Hey don't thank me because I didn't put together that table - I took it from the German Nicolai-related forum

No. Reset Racing stuff is harder to get here than most other brands listed.
