    650b Front 26 rear 2010am

Am in need of a new wheel set and im toying with the idea or running a 650b/26 front rear combo on my 2010 Helius AM.

    Anyone running a similar setup?

Do it and report back…can't imagine it being 'bad' - just a preference thing. But I was looking to do the same thing until I realized I had no $$ for the conversion =)

Freind of mine has an Ion16 with that setup. In his case it was specifically built for "vertriding". Hike up the mountain with the bike on your back and then descend on unbelieveably steep trails. He rides local trails on it as well and seems quite happy with it. I had a quick spin on it and besides feeling a tad slacker and slower handling it felt pretty much the same as my 26/26 Ion16.

Have you tried a 650B on your AM Frame?

Try to do so. My AC 2010 fitted up my 650B wheels no issues. You may have to limit the rear shock travel or use a shorter travel setting.

    Worth trying.

    Hi,

Cheers for the replies, found some good info in the AM thread about alternative shock plate mountings, I've emailed Nicolai regards plate selection recommendations and will likely go with FnR 650b

So Nicolai produces rear shock plates that allow for rear 650b wheel fitment? No way!

Please report back your findings....I just shot off an email to Vincent requesting some info as well...granted my frame is pinion frame so i don't if it'll work.

Not so much 650b wheel fitment, there seems to be plenty of room, the different shock plates lowers the BB to offset the extra radius height of the 650b wheel. Apologies for any confusion

So I got a reply from Vincent…the answer is no…the rear cannot be fitted with a 650b…

I still might put one on the front though…just for the hell of it.

Try one on the rear and play with the travel settings. Again, my AC fits a 650B on the rear and the swingarm is really similar on both AC and AM.

Mind telling me which shock shuttle hole position you used tovfit your 27.5 wheels? Pictures would be awesome. Thanks!

not only does the 27.5 fit in the front. but the rear can be squeezed in too (2 hole from bottom on the shock plate)
