High School MTB in the News

Teh Oakland Trib did a pretty nice article:

    http://www.insidebayarea.com/bayarealiving/ci_3597430

And the West County Times gave some ink, too:

    http://www.contracostatimes.com/mld/...s/13885898.htm

    Just a few numbers:
Last year in March at Granite Bay we had 167 racers. This year we had 221.
Our Freshmen Class has grown from 43 to 76.
Last years Freshmen are now this years Soph totalling 44.
Last years Sophs at 39 are now a paart of JV at 51.
    Varsity holds at about 18-20.
Experts did the GB lap in 46, Sport about the same and these Varisty kids did it in 43.5, JV 45.5.

Great story, we need more schools to join in on this.

It's great to see coverage of the league and how it has grown in the past year. Thanks for sharing your team and the league's accomplishments not only with us in the mountain biking community, but those outside of it as well.

Very cool to see this coverage.

My cousin who races independent since his hish school doesn't have a league (College Park HS in Pleasant Hill) raced his first race at Folsom a few weeks back and got 24th. His first 'real' mountain bike ride was in January of this year at Annadel - he's been hooked since.

    The cool part is

that each one of you is responsible for the success of what we do. You represent the ciritcal mass required to make this an important event in our society. Every time we pass by on the trail or in the media all look up and say "yes." A little bit of each one of you is in what we do and you feel it as we pass. You are us and you didn't even know it.

That is very cool. Makes me want to help out in some way. San Jose needs some mtn. bike teams, as well. Keep up the awesome work!
