First Unofficial High School Girls Ride

I'll just post my ride report; the names re shortened as these girls are minors. I hope you understand :
We had our first unofficial ECHSMTB Girls ride yesterday morning and the
weather was perfect. Kel joined veteran riders Kar, Mir and Mad on a
little spin hosted by Coach Michael down by the Bay. Kar sported a new
Specialized M4 Hardtail and Kel had a a new Stumpjumper. I guessed these
girls had riding on their minds.
To loosen up we went around the Dog Park section of the trail and around
Costco on the paved trail into the wind and then out to Golden Gate Fields.
On a lark we ventured out onto The Albany Bulb for a little bit of dirt
action, water, and Clif Bars. After that we practiced Paceline Riding into
the wind where we rotated the leader of a single file line. The advantage to
this is that the person in front of you blocks the wind for their turn and
everyone saves energy and takes turns at the front. We cruised out to the
Emeryville Spit for another break. The breeze off of the Bay was fresh but
    not cold.
After that we worked our Paceline back to Berkeley, this time with the
wind at our backs, and crossed over the freeway on the new bridge into
Aquatic Park. We ended up at Peets and drew a bit of attention when we rode up as we create interest. That happens when you "look good on the course," and our crew is used to that sort of thing. We shot the breeze for a while, with various coffees and goodies at a nice table under an umbrella. We and basically talked about how our team is the most fun in the league and discussed how we would spend the summer.
As it was hot on that side of the freeway we crossed back over the
bridge into the fresh breeze and did an easy Paceline over Golden Gate
    Fields and back to Costco.
I think we probably pressed the ride a bit as we had some racing blood
in the crew today. Our rides in the future will be more relaxed; this was a
    great trial run.
We had only one new rider, Kel, as some of the other girls seemed already scheduled. I posted the next ride for 3 weeks down the road at the recommendation of one of the moms; these girls are busy.
