El Cerrito, Albany, and Berkeley High all had workouts in these parks today. It was interesting to see how structured and cautious the coaches were. I know them all, some very well, and early rides are carefully constructed and managed. High on the list of behaviors was trail sharing etiquette. What it comes down to is "this is our nest, don't soil it."
This is remarkable community of mountain bikers, adults and kids alike. We can bring as many as 75 riders, noobs, Varsity super athletes and coaches, to such venues at one time so our impact is critically managed. It is so nice to stand in front of land managers and Park officials with such a verifiably clean slate. Neither the hikers nor equestrians can say squat.
