Best place to ride/camp north of NYC along 87

We are driving from Virginia to Montreal and meeting a friend from NYC on the way to ride and were wondering the best place to ride around I-87 around the catskills. Up or down I-87 anywhere is fine as long as it is not really more than 3 or 4 hrs from NYC.

Where should we ride and were is a good place to camp nearby?

20+ mile rides are good, and lots of climing is great too. Technical stuff is fine but mountain biker fine tuned flowly trails are great too.

    THANKS

There's camping at Onteora Lake in Kingston (Exit 19) - large trail network at neighboring Jockey Hill and MTB trails right out of the campsite? Further north, there's Spier Falls/Moreau State Park in South Glens Falls (again, Exit 19 off of i87 but north of Albany on the Northway) - swimming + camping there and some damn tough mtb riding with great views of the sothern 'daks and Hudson river. Check out reviews for the 3 within the NY trail review section

Look to where the river ends, or where the river starts...

Moreau Lake is Exit 17, not 19. Don't want anyone getting lost.

thanks for the correction about Moreau, you're right!

I also just thought about Whiteface/Wilmington. There's camping right outside the parking lot at Whiteface and the town trails are expansive... DH/XC combos? Something for everyone?
