    Bear mountain

I am planning a trip to Bear mountain in the summer with the family and wanted to know if there were any trails in Bear Mountain State Park that can be ridden. I know the AT is hiking only and that Blue is close by but I was thinking of taking my 10 year old daughter on the ride with me one of the days. Any suggestions?

I don't believe there is anything at Bear, you might want to check out Stewart though, it's about 30 minutes North of there and way less burly than Blue.

There is a bike loop at the Anthony Wayne Rec area which is right by Bear Mt. Fairly flat. Check out the web site. It is the only legal biking trail in Harriman.

I'd forgo that dinky bike loop and just go up to Stewart. Many more trails up there, and it's well maintained

Another alternative is Ringwood State park in NJ, which is about 30 minutes away via Seven Lakes Dr to Rte 17 to Sterling Mine rd.

I agree that the loop at Anthony Wayne is not that great. Even closer than the other options mentioned is Blue Mountain. Maybe 15 minutes - at the most. You won't be disappointed.

Blue would be good for me alone but I am planning a ride with my 10 yr old. Stewart may work will she be able to ride most of the trails?
