Until 8/15/12 you can leave feedback on what you think of DEC Trails & Parks.
I mentioned better DEC online information for MTB trails (almost none!), better trail markings in the parks, and a ban on logging trees that are expected to perish from invasive species.
FYI there is a dire outlook on the survivial of Hemlocks, & pines due to the Wooly Adelgid
Save Our Hemlocks - How You Can Help
Places like Pond Gut, Ninham, etc will be affected. I'd hate to see a rush to harvest that timber before the wood is without a marketable value
"New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is conducting a survey to assess how the State's management of State Forests affects public use of those forests. We are reaching out to our stakeholders: groups and individuals who use State Forests for recreation and/or whose daily lives are affected by State Land management. The survey found at the link below will be used to interpret current uses of State Forests, and to possibly influence future State Forest management practices.
DEC appreciates your time and hopes you can fill out the 10 question survey found at:
NYS DEC Recreation Survey
The survey will be available online until August 15, so we ask that you fill it out by that date.
Your responses will be kept anonymous, and survey answers will be generalized for a final report. Should you require a paper copy of the survey or more information, please contact Justin Perry, NYS DEC Forester, at: 625 Broadway, Albany NY 12233-4255. Phone: (518) 402-9428. Fax: (518) 402-9028. Email: firstname.lastname@example.org
A final summary of the Social Impact Assessment report will be published by the end of the year on the DEC website, available for public use.
