Saturday, March 17, 2012 is our next trail work day - all work sites are on HORSE (trail) – coordinates E3 to G3 on the map.

Thought for the day – ‘Keep the water off the trail and the users on it.’

We'll meet at the Ridge Rd North lot (coordinate J1) off Rt 17K at 9:30 – we’ll start work at 10:00 AM and finish by 2:00 PM. I drive a green Subaru Forrester and will park somewhere in the middle of the lot. When we have everyone together, we’ll distribute name tags, order lunch, and carpool to the work site.

There will be a short talk on safety; then we’ll distribute the tools, walk to the work site, go over the work plan, divide into crews, and get to work.

Please bring the following personal equipment:
• Weather appropriate clothing
• Safety Glasses
• Work Gloves
• Sturdy Boots
• Water

*** ‘Horse’ is one of three ‘Green Dot Trails’, i.e. best suited for novice off-road cyclists. The other two ‘Green Dot Trails’ are ‘Pond’ (E4 to D6) and ‘Windsor’ (G4 to G9) fka Campground Trail – we’re working on the names. We plan to have these three tails spruced up and marked by summer.

*** SOS 2012 Work Day Calendar. We’ve schedule our work days on the 3rd Saturday of the month – unless there is a conflict. Our schedule for the rest of 2012 is:
4/28 – Youth turkey hunt on 4/21
6/23 – Per DEC, no events of 6/16
11/10 – before Regular Deer Season
Note: Summer dates are Mosquito and Deer Fly dependent.

*** Get more involved. If you’d like to be more involved in any aspect of SOS please let us know – we can use the help.

We have the beginnings of a website - see Stewards of Stewart
