White Mesa Summer Solstice/Full Moon Ride

Bad news about Santa Fe National Forest following on the heels of the Sandia Closure. Not much left but Gallup ... but hey, White Mesa can't burn. Saturday night is not the solstice nor the full moon but it splits the difference and if you've never ridden it at night, it's quite the experience. Figure on hitting the trail in the waning twilight about 2030hrs-ish (8:30PM). I suppose some will want lights... others night vision (the technique) and others night vision (the technology). Could be the antidote to all this bad news. Hope to see others there.... dimly. Nate, you in?

I think I remember you complaining about lights on our last WM full moon ride. how they were ruining the experience, and to turn them off.

Lights? That's what the full moon is for. Although it's hard to see the trip wires.

Not coming? Disappointing. I'll bring a tire pump and a chain tool, if that makes any difference.

Such a sweet little bike!!! One of the funnest bikes I have ridden in the north foothills. It was years ago and I still remember that ride, thank you.

I was taking about your bike, I did not notice the other one. My bad.

No apologies required. Everyone just needs to get out and ride everything that's left.

Your pics are better than mine. Surely someone got shots of White Mesa. There were a couple dozen vehicles in the parking lot. Come on folks, let's see them.

I didn't get very good footage...everything is shaky from horrific winds, but here's a short vid of the sunset ride that night. Never seen the parking lot so full (no one was there when we first arrived) when we got back.

Nice footage. Looks different with lights. Without lights, it's just that which is illuminated by moonlight and that which is black. Tricky.
