Where to camp in ABQ on Sat 8/19

We'll be moving camp from Santa Fe to ABQ after Saturday's ride.

Where to? Any place with showers? Since it's a Saturday, I'm assuming I'll have to reserve today or tomorrow before leaving to head that way.

Where to ride in ABQ on Sunday before leaving?

Need to be on the road back to Austin, by 11, we'll be up by 7am.

So we''ll have a few hours and would like to squeeze in something before leaving.
We'd be up for meeting EARLY if anyone in the ABQ area wants to tour some flatlanders from Austin.......

Or point us to something well marked that we could bang out, get back, clean up and roll.

    Thanks!
    Erik

    KOA

or where Greg de Taos camped after the KOTM race

    mappy wappy

no showers, but much better camping imop. Might as well get a room if you can't rough it

Edit: If you camp at the Cedro CG, there are miles of trails just out your front door. Check the map and all of the surrounding trails.

Great camping spot Brian, thank you. If you want to have an actual camp spot that you have to pay for you must reserve the campground. It was taken up with a wedding party and a bag pipe convention (no kidding) on Sunday morning. We went a hundred yards up the road and camped just off of the road for free. Sounds like you guys need a solar shower or two.
The Cedro Trails were muddy Sunday morning after a beautiful all night rain storm but the fire roads all around the area were a blast. We ended the day with muddy bikes and huge smiles all around.
Is that a fire observation tower above the camping area?

I think it's a snipers nest used to pick-off bag pipers.

Yeah...sorry I did not make it Greg, but glad you were able to squeeze out something before you left. You could have joined us in the foothills had I known.

No problem, if I would join the 21 century it would be a lot easier but I cant get past the correlation between the thing that you cook with and holding a device with the same frequency beaming from it inches from my skull.

I could have picked off a few bagpipers at 7am Sunday morning after a rainy, beer soaked night in the tent. Is that not the worlds worst instrument?

To be honest I have no idea what they were playing nor can I ever tell what the hell bagpipes are playing, just sounds like droning on and on. (insert ex-wife joke here)

5th? That is about right. I really need to stop f-ing with my bike the night before races. I never can recognize the thing when I line up. NASCAR crew chief I am not.

I think if you are just here for a couple of rides, you would have more fun on the David,Otero and Tunnel Canyon side of hwy 337.A large part of the Cedro single track has been torn up by quads. Still some good riding there, but better at David,Otero and Tunnel.Id be willing to take you out and show you around this area. If worst comes to worst, my property is off of Raven Rd. within minutes Of all Trails in area. You can camp here.

What trails did you ride in Otero? Any muddy spots?

Assuming it's mud free, I'll be out there this afternoon around 4 if anyone wants to ride at my pokey pace...

    Stay at my place!

Plenty of room at my camp under the overpass on I-40 just west of Tijeras. Pretty well-appointed, I might add. Genuine naugahyde couch, extra-large campfire ring, and plenty room to pitch your tent. Just bring a few extra 40's for me.

    kthxbye
