    Visiting over Labor Day

Hello, I live in Colorado and have been mountain biking for a few months now. I got a friend interested in it also and she lives in Albuquerque. So far she has only put a few miles in around the Foothills and doesn't know much about riding or local trails. I am planning a trip down over Labor day and hope to run King of the Mountain on Sandia Peak on Aug 31st and maybe another set of trails on the 1st. After looking at singletracks.com I was thinking Otero Canyon but was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions. We're looking for some XC and all mountain riding, nothing we would need a downhill sled for, just some good singletrack for two hardtail riding noobs. If anyone else will be out riding that weekend we will be happy to meet up

White Mesa is fun and not difficult, 45 minutes NE of Abq. Otero, Tunnel, etc 30 minutes South offering endless combinations of trails and also not difficult if you like to climb. I'll also make a pitch for the North Foothills which is either a lot of fun or not worth airing your tires up for depending on whom you talk to.

Tunnel, Otero Canyon and David Canyon all link together. They are south of Tijeras a few miles on hwy 337 on the west side of the hwy. Cedro is a little more xc and is also south of Tijeras on the east side of the hwy. You can pick up a map at the Ranger Station as you leave Tijeras as well. Have fun.

So I got my time off request approved and I will for sure be riding in New Mexico over Labor Day. Most likely riding Sandia on Saturday the 31st and maybe Otero on Sunday. Anyone who wants to tag along or play tour guide is more than welcome to join us
