    Some information on Placitas trails here: placitasareatrail.org

    USFS is planning on improving the system soon with help from some old stump who rides there all the time.

    Saw N8's pics on this thread and figured since I was in the area, I'd give placitas a try today. Hope he doesn't mind some crappy cellphone pics added to the mix

    It got too cold and windy for my taste so called it off after about an hour or so. Dunno what trails I was on other than taking the first singletrack I saw and rode the powerline road across until I hit the loop. Good times either way.

    Nice!

    The clouds looked way cool, yet a little ominous and once the rain started coming down, I was out. I think I saw some fresh MTB tracks on the powerline road, but never saw another soul out there. The loose and rocky ravines & downhill section of the loop were a pretty cool bonus.

    I've ridden this recommendation. Probably many others. Smorgasbord of good and bad. And I probably took a lot of wrong turns but it was good...

    Main trailhead

    Up CS01 1.25 Has problems

    S CS08 0.50 Not too bad

    Down CS09 1.00 Crap trail

    S CS02 0.75 For being straight, not bad

    Down WS06 1.15 Fun.

    N WS03 0.60 More fun the reverse direction

    Down WS04 0.75 Real fun. Warning: Jumps ahead!

    Up WS05 0.60 new and just OK

    N WS03 1.20 Nice trail with a few rough edges

    Up WS02 0.20

    N Road 0.20 the only part not single track

    Up CS09 0.75 Crap trail

    N CS07 0.88 Nice trail

    Down CS03 0.20 Pretty fun

    Down CS01 0.40
