Permits are here for Camp May.

First come first serve. I always try to get the spot right off of the trail. EZ access and there are a few little booters nearby.

The campground at the end of the road is very nice - several spacious level spots, several johns, etc, but should also prove to be popular. I've also heard tell that you're supposed to "reserve" and pay for use in advance in Los Alamos, although I've never heard of that actually being the rule. The night before last year's XC race I just blew in there late and had a nice level spot to car camp on, and had the whole place to myself last weekend, but I wouldn't consider that likely this weekend.

On the other hand, primitve camping on the way up the road to the resort is abundant. I would suggest that you get there in the light, though.

Restroom facilities available in the lodge no later than 7AM Sat, when packet pickup starts.

    • Two drink minimum
    • Bring some dry firewood and an axe.
    • The one way sign at Camp May is discretionary.
    • Thunder often follows lightning.
    • The porta-potties are cleaned on Thursday morning.
    • The TP is NOT for decorating your neighbors campsite/kindling/projectile material.
    • Bring your own roll of TP, just in case.
    • Bumming beer from your campsite neighbor is encouraged.
    • Turners and kegerators make good camp buddies.
    • A headlamp is good to have for wandering around at night.
    • One lumen is all you need,
    • 1k lumens is what you want.
    • Best theology/political party/DH/FR/XC/Road rider discussions should not be done without a field sobriety test.
    • Rain/Sleet/Snow at 9k' sucks when you're in a tent.
    • Have someone bring up El Parasol Breakfast Burritos (ummm, real lard....) instead of making breakfast yourself.
    • Bring a folding table.
    • rsclimb makes decent coffee.
    • It's 8 o'clock somewhere.

Hope there's not a rave at Camp May. Last time I was there it literally never stopped. I had to go over to the rave at 9am and ask them to allow me to have my breakfast in paece. They were cool and shut it down... at 9am. I guess they rave there about every other weekend.
Keep this in mind. It won't stop all night... and it's LOUD.
