Thanks, I've ridden, or rode, however is correct, the Bosque a few times. Its a good place. I've done well there because its basically flat.

The west side of the Sandias is what has really killed me. Literally every 100 yards I'm stopping and sucking wind with my chest and legs burning. Its pretty sad.

Faulty is one of the harder trails to climb... stopping often is nothing to be ashamed of.... have you ridden the foot hills much?

I've only done the foothills twice. The area around the menaul parking spot. Wanted to go today but isn't going to work out time wise.

It's odd that it is far colder and snowier back in ABQ than in Germany at the moment. We've had ZERO snow and temps on Xmas Eve were in the low 50s - biergarten wetter.

However, I fully expect a drastic change is luring right around the corner… :(

May 22 first time I rode this trail. Pretty ride yet not very technical. The downhill sections are short and sweet and the rest of the trail has some flow.

This is a 2009 Titus MotoLiteII frame, and I love it. It's a great all rounder trail bike, 130mm travel front and rear, carbon rear triangle for rigidity and lightness. It's a great looking bike that gets me tons of compliments, rides twisty singletrack and climbs like a beast, while instilling confidence on the descents. It's a good "do it all" one bike quiver.

With this fork it's about a 68.75 head angle, so not as "aggressive" as some of the kids now days like, but it's perfect for me. I can out-climb people in better shape because it pedals so well and tracks so straight. I can hang with my buddy on his 6" giant reign on all but the gnarliest descents as well.

Anyways, I do love it. Built up to around 27lbs with beefy parts. Just rode a gnarly downhill trail yesterday that opens up into some mellow singletrack. It completely kills it in all terrains. Certainly not the end-all of bikes or anything but it's the nicest bike I've had so far ;)

I have an El Guapo and can give you a lot of info on it:

    Attachment 899681

It's one of the older one's still considered an Arizona native (has the setting sun headbadge). I'm running a Marzocchi 55 ti up front and the Marzocchi Roco WC coil (400lb) in the rear, CB Iodine wheels, CB bars, seatpost and stem...2x10 FSA cranks with the Blackspire-twinty chainguide and 11-36 rear with x9. Shimano SLX brakes of course.

Now with that outta the way, let me say this: it's probably still one of the best AM bikes I know of. Pedaling efficiency on the uphills is crazy good and once you open up the rear shock on the descent, it becomes so bottomless that you think you're on a FR bike. The frame itself is gorgeous and I get tons of compliments on it. With the CB wheelset, it's very stiff in all the right ways and I appreciate the somewhat XC-ish geo vs some of the more slack rides out there. The payoff is that I earn my turns, including the long and steep climbs in Moab without issue. The Horst-link is just plain phenomenal.

    Attachment 899685

With the build above, it's about 32lbs. People scoff at that, but considering I have front and rear coils that are unreal smooth, it's worth it. My prior build was closer to 29.5lbs, but I am not chasing grams.

I do not recommend the stock rear shock--the Monarch RC is junk. I tested out a Kashima RP23 and it was a big improvement before I pulled the trigger on the coil. There's a second mount point for a coil shock since they're behavior is different (smart engineering) and I have never been happier.

    Alright, thread-jack over.

This may be the sickest short (1-2 mile) gravity fed trail in Taos. Several mile ride up to access it and way worth it.

Reminds me a lot of what the Cochiti Ultimate used to be before it burned. 3 hours climbing from Dixons and 10-15 minutes flying down the back. It was perhaps the fastest singletrack in NM. I miss that place....

Cool video man, and you are right about it being one of the best flowy singletrack around. Won't be giving away the location, but that trail is called torley mills (sp?). It actually connects and keeps on truckin after that road you stopped on. Also, there are quite a few other trails to ride in that area too if you know about em.

Don't share the location of that one with too many people  Also, we should ride! Just rode that exact trail (then back up, and out the other way) on friday. Pic is from a month ago or so, but same trail. Pic is from about 1:24 in your video.

Also, just to whore out my bike some more (new seatpost REALLY kicks ass!)

Yup, but Cochiti had tech! Which, is something this trail is obviously missing.

Are you talking about dropping down the back side to Los Conchas/East Fork?

I'm glad you brought it up, bobby69. We should consider "reinventing" sections of Cochiti. We MTB'ers have a friend in the Forest Service up there in Los Alamos who is mighty handy with a chainsaw.

That section of trail maybe, yes. However, the "punisher" line that you can ride/hike up and links into the trail posted has more tech lines than you can shake a stick at.

Haha yeah no prob, I was skeptical about even posting this video, after thinking on it for a while decided it was too sweet of a ride not too. Before we dropped into this section my rear derailleur was caught in the wheel and the hangar snapped (cause I wasn't thinking after a long hot ride up and failed to shift to a higher gear on a short rocky downhill) so I was riding this trail with the chain tight and in 3rd, thanking gravity for the fuel.

This trail was the cleanest I've seen it. The "punisher" line too, could use some work in some of the steep washed out sections, but whomever has been working that trail the past few years, nice work it's awesome

Kind of close but not quite. Gavilan would be a fun ride, esp linked from Gold Hill, it's part of the Columbine Hondo WSA so not legal to ride.
