    Lost keys on Winsor

    Hey all,

I lost my keys last night on our Winsor ride with Patrick from IMBA. I'm retracing my route and riding up the whole mountain this morning. If you know anyone riding Norski/Winsor/Chamisa/Sidewinder/Juan/Nun's, ask them to keep an eye out for keys with a black alarm fob.

Karma for my evil Strava KOM descent I earned?

I noticed that segment is flagged now. Was that done by you?

That was done months ago by Jennifer et al. from the forest service. They have wanted to do a reroute for a long time once things get rutty and not able to be fully fixed (fall-line trails, in a depression, can't keep water off the tread). I have pushed for them to keep the old route as an optional line but not sure it will happen. I did do a bit of berming recently in a few corners where many riders go wide and the trail edge was dust. Expect changes just above Pacheco this year.

I mean the segment on Strava has been flagged. It got flagged right after you rode it and got that KOM.

Yeah, I wasn't sure which one you meant. Some folks were whining and looks like they acted out. I ride with a bear bell and a thumb bell when I do quick descents and have never had an issue. No one I know that doesn't ride with those has had an issue as well. Some people think everyone is riding faster because of Strava, as if it wasn't fun to ride fast a year or two ago.....I will keep going for PRs everywhere, so it won't affect me.

Just seems odd that you got a KOM on that segment as you said, and then the next day it is flagged. I have never seen a flagged segment in the 2 years I have been using Strava to track my rides. Why would someone flag that particular segment and not the other dozen or so that are on the Winsor descent?

Partially my fault. I mentioned the keys, just as above, on an email list and folks got all up tight about it. Over reaction IMO, folks have always gone fast, it is just more known now how slow one is compared to others. There are more flagged too.
