That won't be hard . I'm headed to town to get a breakfast burrito and then to the hill to get first lift right at 9am

Ricky's got a date with our road gap today . Will post how that goes later

Spectacular weather was had by all.

I beat the Guaje Canyon crowd. Showed up at the trail head at 10:15 and hung around until 10:35 or so. I then trudged on and got to experience GC for the first time. What a cool trail! I was bitterly disappointed by all the intentionally cut trees (most saplings) that were laid across the trail to hamper progress. Several were laid across locust bushes to get them to lay across trails. I moved what I could but left most and just road or walked over them. Someone is not happy with "non pedestrian" travel on their trails....

Anyway, stats were: left Sulivan field at 8:40, finished Quemazon by 9:30, made it to GC at 10:15, finished by climbing the fireroad that passes the sportsman club and intersects Baranca Mesa by 1:10 and was in the shower by 1:30. I then took the bus up to Pajarito and enjoyed a few beers. Got to see Neal and Carrie and got the low-down on their day. Seems fun was had by all!

::edit ... looking forward to Neal's post. Pics better be presented, dammit::

Cheers everyone that made it! ::cheers::

I missed`this post today making sure I was on time (well w/in my norm. 5-10 mins on time ) for PAJ Neal. I was up till 1:30 last night finishing my fork rebuild so was little sleepy today. Was not sure how fork was going to do but after first run the fork seemed good. Man you wasted no time catching my butt, I was planning on avoiding you for a few runs. Well thanks for taking the time Neal to sesh the road gap with me it was fun. I over shoot some but I have been know for doing that from time to time . Bone Crusher was fun as well in the snow

When you get back from Red Bull can we sesh Jury Gap finally? After that then we can talk about Happy Ending (I think at the "Bad Lands"?) but first things first.

    Pajarito GITA Pictures

It was probably the best weather and trail conditions of the summer for downhilling at Pajarito. Good trails, band playing all afternoon at the lodge, good beer on the deck, good friends to ride with all day, I couldn't ask for more

    Blue Skies all day long:

Lodge, in the AM, Bike #1 for the morning on the left:
    GITA2009_02_Lodge.jpg

The only real snow on the trails was on Bone Crusher Drop. I scraped the inch or so off early in the morning and it quickly dried enough to land on:

Ricky hitting the road gap for the second time. He overshot this one a bit making for some really BIG air :

The lodge was packed by mid-afternoon:

Grainy picture from the chair of Julian on the Bone Crusher drop:

Thank you, may I have another. I managed to get twelve runs in for the day between two bikes. I had five minutes to make my last run to get on the chair just before 3pm. Rode Bike #2 for the PM:

Packed parking Lot at the end of the day:

    Course Cleanup

Just one last picture before the snow starts flying (again) at Pajarito. The ski hill asked me to cleanup the race course tape and posts Saturday but I had some trails to ride and beverages to drink. With the help of my family we got it all down tonight (Ben took the picture). The pic's kinda blurry but Kristin had a double-D worth of tape packed in her coat.

Thanks Neal. I asked them to keep it up throughout the season, so that a good line would burn in. Then I completely forgot it was there. I didn't make it out there on Saturday, but was wondering if it actually did burn in. How'd it look?

It burned in really well. We shouldn't need to mark it next year outside of the race. We will need signs and a name for the trail at some point.

Sorry I split on the Bandaleros... thanks for the early runs - you guys are lots of fun. I spent the rest of the day on the hill with my buddy Clay. Also, it was good to meet Neal later at camp. I'd love to come back next year to Pajarito with fresh legs... I was pretty wiped out on Saturday after the Friday GITA ride.
