    First Snow

After an awesome day with the Bandoleros in the Sandias on Saturday, Santa Fe got its first snow. We decided to scope out some high areas in the Sangre de Cristos and maybe even something new...(Bandoleros will know of what I speak)

So some of the Santa Fe Wreckin' Crew (My lady, her brother, and myself) broke out the MTB's and busted a move for the snow.

The best thing about the snow was, that in a very rare case, the aspen leaves were peaking and still very bright yellow while covered in and surrounded by snow. Usually these trees have lost their leaves before the snow arrives, so we were in for a special treat.

This day was icing on the cake after a day well spent with my Bandolero bruthas from the south.

Enjoy the photos of a rare natural beauty...

Sweet Zombie Jesus, what a difference a day and a few miles makes...

I'm assuming you didn't do Ravens Ridge -> REM?

What's up with the lock? Is that a SF thing?

Dissapoint, you did not my friend. Saturday was one of my favorite rides of the year.
After this snow melts away, we'll have to make arrangements to show the Bandoleros the new goods...

He brought the lock along to beat Bandoleros. A chain with a heavy padlock is his weaapon of chioce. I tried to tell him that Bandoleros can be appeased with random party favors, but he said he'd rather beat a Bandolero down than share his goods.

We were between 10,000- 11,000 ft elev. People on trail reported even deeper than 6" of snow up higher.

Cool photos. I've been staring at the mountains E of SF all day wondering how much snow was up there. Makes me wish I'd headed up to enjoy the first snow of the season.

I don't see a pack on him stuffed with sweet luscious booze so he can rest easy.

    Very nice, thx for sharing.

It tried to snow in the San Mateos, but didn't stick. If it can hold off one more week I can try my new trail idea out. Aspen are peaking right now up there.
