    This ever happen to you?

I've been mountain biking in New Mexico for 6 or 7 years now, and for the first time ever I rode past a LAKE! Yeah, I know we are in a desert kinda state. All the lakes are up in wilderness areas where bikes are not allowed (grrrr). So it was very cool to see a beautiful alpine lake on a ride last weekend.

Our gracious ride leader was the Taos Tourism Department director, Greg de Taos, who generously loaded our bikes on his rig and drove us up way past Red River to some unknown trailhead. The climbing was not too harsh, and the views were excellent.

The talus slopes kept CDaddy honest...

Our ride leader had one of those OTB experiences and suffered a palm bruise, so he had a harder time enjoying the ripping downhills. But the smiles were unanimous as we enjoyed some post-ride beers.

Two New Mexican psychos and one moron enjoyed an excellent ride.

    Thanks for looking.

Where you want to go? The ridge above there is private land (Frazer Mtn., that lake is 3 miles from lift 1 at Taos Ski Valley. We got some ridges you can ride though. Gold Hill, ahhh.
