Right now about 2/3s of the snow is gone again. Whats not covered by snow is pretty muddy still. Not sure about Cedro, but Cedro usually drys out quicker than Otero. With all this warm weather Otero might dry out enough by the weekend. I'll let you know how it looks later in the week.

    cool.
As much as I like to ride there, I hope the area gets more snow/moisture.
It's going to be a rough summer otherwise.

Right now its not looking good for the summer. We might get lucky and get some late winter snow. Big change from last year. These pics are the same spot last year and now.

Agreed. My network of shoveled trails is nothing compared to last year's. March mud in February?

Don't get excited. I was referring to mtbike52's shoveled path. In a good snow year I have similar trails from my house to the woodshed, to the shop, to the cars, to the storage shed, to the compost heap, to the garbage shed, to the dog's comfort station. I'm out of shape, not much shoveling this year...

Sounds like a Tunnel up to West Ridge and down Birdhouse will work. Don't want to play in the mud. Anything for a change in scenery.

Looking at the extended forecast, the rest of Feb is pretty much a bust for moisture. Its been a while since we could ride up here in Feb. Friday Tunnel was dry except for a very short spot of ice near the top. West ridge was dry and Birdhouse had a little mud shortly after you start down. After that some spots were even dusty. By this weekend I bet Otero and up will be in pretty good shape. There will always be those tucked away spots that take a while to dry out.

Monday I went Tunnel to Otero and then up for a few more miles til it started getting dark. It was dusty and dry. Scary Dry. Tinderbox dry. If they got any snow since then I will be surprised if it was much. The storm that was to be... never really arrived. We need serious moisture up there or its gonna burn this summer.

You caught me editing previous post.

Not too far up. Just up to the No Fly Zone and headed back before it got dark.

Took a little ride today to get a look at conditions. Tunnel, West Ridge, Bird House all good to go. Lower end of Otero good to go. Above Otero you start running into areas of ice and some mud between stretches of dry areas. Upper areas above Otero to David Canyon could use a little more time. But it wont be long up there with this weather.
