New question here. Any decent trails near Navajo Lake SP?

Heading up to Navajo Lake State park in a few weeks. Anyone know of any trails in the immediate area worth checking out? Looks like Farmington has a few, but I don't want to drive that far. Looking for something I can ride to or drive a few miles to the TH.

This park is about 20 miles NE of Bloomfield and 50 NE of Farmington and is close to the CO border.

    Thanks

Absolutely nothing around there. There are a couple of footpaths around the lake, but nothing more. Took the ski and bike a few years back and did very little riding. Thought you were going to SF?

Are you going to shave your legs for this spin ride? I'll be down for NFH around noon. Plus, would be cool to see what's going on with the film crew at Embudito. I'll call you in the AM.

He has a 1 year old...driving anywhere to ride is "too" far away.

    Thanks Tim,

Looks like Alien is 20 miles away and with a 1YO, that's doable.

There is a trail out there it was built for the horse but most of it is rideable, it gets very little use so its probably sandy but has some spectacular overlooks. It goes south from the dam up by the old airport, you can also get there from the bottom on an old road that starts from a big location in between the Texas Hole turn off and the maintaince station. If you go up the highway 511 just past the park living quarters there is a trail that starts on the right side of the road mostly used by cows, it follows the highway for about 2-3 miles and turns left across the highway from that point its hunt out the trail. You can actually ride to the Alien from that point (long).
