Are there real trails at Campgaw?

Just noticed a post about some Ramapo rides ... from 12miles to 125miles

Think it said they start at Campgaw? But the descriptions sounded like it was road (or at least fireroad) type stuff. That doesn't interest me. Did i misinterpret? Are there any technical trails around the mountain?

The mountain isn't that big as i recall - having gone once or twice for snowboarding. Do they run downhill courses in the summer or anything?

I completely forgot that place existed until seeing that post.

Just getting into riding the past few months. Been going to Tourne and Lewis Moris mostly. But my new favorite spot is Sprain (in Yonkers?) So many fun obstacles.

There is no legal riding in Campgaw or the near Ramapo Valley County Reservation. Both in Bergen County. There are some trails there but 125 is kind of pushing it....really pushing it.

Campgaw is small. No DH there.

Your best bet is to go to Ramapo Mountain STATE Forest (off Skyline Dr, commonly referred just as Skylne dr.) or Ringwood State Park. Actually you can start at RMSF and go to Ringwood. If you do all trails on both there you are looking at to 50-60 mi.

    Ringwood
    Ringwood State Park - JORBA

    RAmapo (Skyline)

    Good info - thanks man.

I've heard a lot of good things about Ringwood but haven't made it out there yet.

Definitely have to visit Ringwood and Skyline some time soon.

    thanks

You are referring to the Ramapo Rally being put on by BCTNJ.

WELCOME TO THE BTCNJ WEB SITE! - RAMAPO RALLY

Its a road ride. There is no mountain biking in Bergen County.

    Ringwood, NJ

Ringwood has a lot of construction going on. They are building a pipeline and there are signs all around that trails are closed. In geeneral, they won' bother you, but it seems like there are a few disconnects going on because of the construction.

    Good luck!
