    Night Riding

    Hey everyone,
I just wanted to know what the official rules are for riding the trails at night? I didn't want to go out and do it just to get a fine. Thanks

    Generally not allowed

Most parks (State and County) close at dusk, and have signs posted to this effect, and thus night riding is not allowed. A few have specific hours (like Wawayanda, which at some times of year is open till 9:00 pm, even when it's dark at 7:00, so technically, you're OK). In addition, the organization I run (see my avatar), has a special arrangement with the County Parks Commission that permits a few legal night rides a year, but they must be guided by a member of Morris Trails Partnership. Our next dates are in September and October, and will be at Mahlon Dickerson and Lewis Morris. I will post a thread when we get closer to the dates on both jorba.org, and the MTBR NJ forum, so stay tuned. Hope this helps.
    Greg
