    Camping Moderately Close to Diablo

I'm looking for somewhere to camp during the weekend of the US Open (25th-27th). I called Wawayanda, Stokes, and High Point parks. They are all booked as are most of the hotels around the area. Are there other places to camp besides the state parks? Thanks for any help.

I have been trying to get a site for the same weekend and it isn't looking good. A guy I work with is from vernon and said there are some private campgrounds up there too that you might be able to find through google. I think one might be called tall oaks.

That's not a bad idea. I'm not sure how much they'd like camping in the parking lot though. I'll look into the Tall Oaks place.

High Titan that could be a good plan as well. We'd want to make sure it was cleared to go though before we made that our destination. Nothing like showing up and finding out you can't use the space you thought was going to be available.

Showers aren't a big deal. Just having anywhere to stay is the biggest problem at this point.

    Camping in Vernon, NJ Area

there is a site for camping in NJ that you can check out. http://www.nwjerseycampgrounds.com go to the "Skylands" area of the state

I found three that you may want to call, they are the closest private campgrounds to Vernon Valley:
Pleasant Acres Farm Campground - Sussex, NJ
Beaver Hill Campground - Sussex, NJ
Kymer's Camping Resort - Branchville, NJ

    If they are booked, try
    Panther Lake - Andover, NJ
    Dingman's Campground, Dingman's Ferry, PA http://www.dingmanscampground.com/

Tall Oaks Campground - I found that one also, but it appears to be a "members only" campground

You may want to check out NY State as well:
Harrimen State Park, Bear Mountain, NY

Hope this helps - good luck with the search

    Try these places

    Pretty close to Diablo:
    Toyes Recreation
    11 Babtown Rd
    Route 565 - Vernon Twp
    Sussex, NJ 07461
    US
    Phone: 973-702-8167
    Email: toye@eclipse.net

Also, try looking over the border in Warwick, NY, it's only about 10 minutes north
