Bike Packing Trail/Park Suggestions (Not Limited To NJ)

Interested in putting together a bike packing trip when the weather gets a big more accomodating so I'd like to check in and see if anyone in these NJ forums have done such a trip. The location doesn't have to be limited to NJ as there are plenty of great trails in surrounding states.

    Thanks all.

Did you ever try a trip? I was just considering the same thing and was looking for some info.

Unfortuantely not. Never got any feedback from anywhere so the trip fell on the priority list to other backpacking and hiking trips.

    Try bikepacking.net
There's a guy on there (jhl99) from PA that is working on an east coast divide route
He has a route that runs north to south across the state of Pennsylvania
I haven't done any strictly trail bikepacking, but I have done a couple of Adventure Cycling routes.
The Allegheny Mountains Loop in Virginia/ W. Virginia is ~400 miles, almost half that is gravel roads if that floats your boat
I thought it was great, and there's some pretty remote areas (then again I am a suburbanite from nj)

There's also the pine barrens in jersey
    SO many dirt roads
You could conceivably connect Pemberton to Atsion Lake to Batsto to damn near Atlantic City and back up to LBI thru Manchester up to Cream Ridge
This is on my to do list
I'm thinking November, December would be a great time if you could steer around hunting seasons

The Wharton trails make me a little nervous because they are so sandy. I rode the Washington Expressway (i think that is what it is called) end to end and it wasn't too bad. I guess I just need to load up the bike one day and see where I end up.
