3rd Annual Cranks Around the Campfire MTB Festival

Back again is the area’s premiere mountain biking camping festival! Northwest New Jersey is the place to be for a long weekend of mountain biking action! The festival grows this year with sponsorship from JORBA (Jersey Off Road Bicycling Association) and Marty’s Reliable Cycles. Expect a lot of the same wonderful events and activities that JORBA offers annually at their JORBAFEST event. Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced rides will be offered twice a day and will explore the diverse terrain of Allamuchy, Stephens, and Deer Park. There will be skinnies to ride, a Huffy toss, a challenging hill climb contest, bike polo, and much more!
Many off-the-bike events are planned for the whole family. Head to the dining hall Friday night for a double feature mtb movie night. Saturday night join your fellow bikers for a campfire at Council Point. Children can experience the outdoors with camp staff participating in nature hikes, fishing, handicrafts, waterfront activities, and much more.

The festival benefits youth mountain biking programs at the Mt. Allamuchy Scout Reservation and trail building and advocacy by JORBA.

Admission to the festival is free for children under 18 years old. Please no pets on reservation property. If you’d like to bring a small RV please contact us to make arrangements.

    More Cranks Info

Every "campsite" at Allamuchy is a group site. Meaning they have 15+ tent platforms, a BBQ grill, fire ring, pavillion (not all but most), and in sites not adjacent to the shower house a latrine (an outdoor bathroom with running potable water). The shower house is brand new last year. It contains private shower stalls. You walk in and lock the door behind you. Plenty of hot water! Bathrooms are clean and modern. THere are also numerous other bathroom facilities around camp for when nature calls. Fires are allowed in the designated fire rings and camp stoves are permitted.

Unlike the 24 Hours of Allamuchy, you will be able to drive up to your site to drop off your gear. The only restriction is during the Mooch Madness race, the road to the sites intersects the course. So be advised you will have to walk your gear up between 8-12am on Saturday. We will have some carts available if you need a hand getting gear up during this time. Once you have your gear unloaded and camp established we ask that you return your car to the main lot. This keeps the camp in a more natural state, your cars will only be a short spin away.

Please leave all pets at home. THe Boy Scouts have this policy has part of their excellent safety record. The BSA keeps their insurance premiums down by providing the safest environment at their facilities.

The dining hall will open Friday night and be serving meals throughout the weekend. Please stop in and see what they are offering. The couple running the kitchen are the Stoddards and have been with the camp for 30 years.

Kids will always be free at Cranks Around the Campfire! This is what the event is all about! I have been pushing for a year round MTB program at the camp the last few years and finally got the go ahead for it this year. MTB at Mt. Allamuchy has a permanent bike shop located in the Red Barn. Look for the camp to start offering MTB programs next spring to both the Boy Scouts and general public. Many people don't know that the camp serves many different organizations other than Boy Scouts.

Finally, if you have any questions please PM me. If you haven't already signed up on BIKEREG, do it now!
