    Sandy bit near Blue Diamond...

I remember heading out with some of you guys almost ba year ago on a scouting mission to find a route around the sandy bit near Blue Diamond. Unfortunately I felt like crap and bonked hard only a short way into the ride, but since then I've ridden the area quite a lot. The trail in some of the sandy sections has been widened to 5 feet or more with people trying to avoid the sand... I usually give up and just walk through that bit since I totally suck at riding either sand or dry creek beds (I think I just lose traction 'cause I'm a lightweight - Harry rides them just fine). Anyway, did the BLM ever get back to BARTA about rerouting that section?

Nope, the BLM has neither the desire nor the resources to send out a couple of specialists for a couple of hours to OK the trail re-alignment. That is one of the reasons I'm know the IMBA rep for Southern Nevada. Maybe I can get a IMBA Trail Care Crew visit to spur the BLM into action and drop in with the Memorandum of Understanding between IMBA and the BLM to see if that gets any attention.
Lately, they seem to be doing very little except getting in the way. I've even been hearing back from local Boy Scouts that are getting the run-around when looking for Eagle Projects in Red Rock lately.

Next week I'll try to get the application together for the Trail Care Crew visit.

Bleh, that sucks. You'd think they'd want to help out with stuff like that, being high profile and everything. Sounds like the BLM people in charge of the Red Rock area need a big ol' boot up the arse to get them into gear... they're equally apathetic to the problems going on with SR159 at the moment
