    Pawn Shops

Looking to get a new bike and was wondering if anyone has ever found anything worth while in bikes at the local pawn shops? I am thinking it is a long shot but people pawn everything else but do not want to spend countless days driving all over town checking either.

I've bought tools at pawn shops, but the bikes I see there are mostly junk. I'm sure you could eventually find a great bike...lady pawns x-hubby's Turner for $300, etc., but it would be pure luck and take lots of checking around.

Not sure if you are still in the market, but I saw a Specialized Pitch w/ xtr shifters/rear derailleur, xt crank, pike 454 u turn fork, juicy three brakes, and sun singletrack rims (not sure about the hubs) at EZ Pawn at 1241 N Boulder Hwy, Henderson, NV. Saw it on the ride to the trailhead saturday. Took a bunch of pics with my phone, got home, downloaded a geometry chart, went back and measured it and its a medium. Too small for me. But they were asking 899 for it. Seemed like a good deal. There was also a rockhopper right next to it, but I didn't look at that one closely at all as I wasn't interested.

Wouldn't the probability of buying a stolen bike go way up at a pawn shop?
Alcohol may lead nowhere, but it sure is the scenic route!
