    OT: Las Vegas Mexican food

Okay, whats the deal . . . I've tried finding GOOD Mexican food here and I JUST CAN'T FIND IT. My traditional search tools (e.g., Yelp, Google) have FAILED me. I've been to several "4+ star" places and man, they wouldn't even get 2 stars in SoCal.

What's the deal!? I KNOW there's good Mexican food here . . . but I just haven't found it yet.

I've seen Mexican's... I have a Mexican friend... maybe I should ask him. I'm not a Mexican food snob. I'll eat almost anything, so "good" is a relative term for me... I'll shoot my buddy a text and see what he recommends.

I'm definitely not a snob about it, but I think I may have been spoiled in SoCal . . . we had some truly spectacular authentic Mexican places, and man were they gooooood.

Okay, Lindo Michoacan is on Horizon Ridge and Carnegie, Henderson
He says there is one in the Orleans he likes. - or maybe there is another Lindo in there. Not sure.
He just tried a new one called Flaming Fajitas on far west side of town- guess that would be closer to you

That's all I got. When you find the good one, let us know.

Los Tacos. One on East Charleston near Bruce and one on West Sahara just west of Valley View. Fast type food, but the best carnitas tacos (get them con todo) and the best chips and salsa around. The one listed on Yelp on W. Charleston is closed.

I'll second Lindo Michoacan as well as Viva Michoacan on Sunset in Henderson. Great food. I hope the lady making the fresh tortillas by hand at the one on Sunset will adopt me. I'd be happy to live off of those.

Here's a second for Frank n Finas - I love the Chicken Verde Frank makes.

The other one we've found recently (and mentioned above) is Flaming Fajitas (they set the fajitas on fire when they arrive at the table with a flavored vodka) on Trop, west of 215, in the In-n-Out parking lot. Should be close to where you are if you ride Bears Best a lot.

We have a taco truck that parks up here on Hualapai and Deer Springs in the NW to serve construction workers lunch during the week...by far the best tacos I've had in Vegas.

And while the majority of the menu is nothing to behold, The Salted Lime at Aliante has $2 carnitas/chicken/carne asada tacos and lettuce wrap fish tacos on their bar menu, and they give you free chips, beans, and 2 types of salsa...the salsa being some of the best I've had in town. Couple that with a few happy hour beers and you're in for a good time.

I forgot about Casa Don Juan, very good. Dona Maria's on LV blvd and Charleston is good if you like tamales.

    I like this thread...I'm hungry.

There is also a Lindo Michoacán up near North Durango and 215. I will second Los Tacos as well. There is also a place called Viva Zapatas that is pretty damn good as well. It's on Craig and I-15.

This thread delivers. The new Lindo is super close.

Been to Frank and Fina's and the Flaming Fajita's place. Maybe I ordered wrong when I was there . . . . will definitely be going back.

I've only eaten Leticias once, maybe that's why I forgot to mention it. Definitely some good food though. Lindo does an all you can eat weekend buffet, with all you can drink margaritas. I went two weeks ago and got pretty sauced for a Sunday after noon!

Frank & Fina's, Tacos del Gordo de Tijuana (One on East Charlestone and one in Las Vegas Blvd.), Lindo Michoacan but the original one in Desert Inn & Eastern I don't like the one in Flamingo, and for the most authentic Mexican atmosphere and the best Pescados y Mariscos go to Las Islitas on North Las Vegas Blvd. That is like being south of the border all together.

Taco's el Gordo is about the best i've had here in town, save for the taco truck on Las Vegas Blvd and Bonanza.

I second the Los Tacos comment. Really good carne asada burritos.

Yayo tacos by unlv is really good too, not truly authentic but they serve some tasty food.

Here's a fourth, or fifth or whatever for Frank and Fina's Cocina--casual, reasonably priced and very tasty.

Mundo (near Smith Center) is good...a little fancier and spendy but good. Not traditional fare. Date night stuff. Great tequila selection.

I'm a Chipotle guy for quick fix.

Viva Mercado just reopened its doors in the Sahara Pavilion (Sahara & Fort Apache)
I am so glad they are back in business as they definitely should be on the list.

I thought the Palms was pretty good, but the only So. Cal place I've been to is Tito's Tacos. I do enjoy all levels of authenticness when it comes to Mexican though.

Oh, I'm so sorry . . . do yourself a favor and please don't go back there. Really terrible food that gets hype for reasons completely unbeknownst to me. The BEST tacos that I've had in LA (and possibly the best taco's period) are from El Taquito Mexicano truck in Passadena or Taco's Leo (pronounced "lay-owww") down on Venice and La Brea. Fuggin' spectacular tacos.

Here in Vegas, I've been hearing very good things from multiple people now about Javier's in the Aria. Its on my list of places to check out.
