    Mt Charleston Rides

Does anyone have a good source for the Mt Charleston rides? I have ridden some of them that start at the top of the crossover between Lee and Kyle canyons and end up close to the lodge but I have heard that there are trails that start at the top of Lee (near Bristlecone) and end up at or close to the bottom of Kyle.

    Anyone?

I have heard some of the bikers that live up on Charleston talk about some old "game" trails that follow that route. From what I gathered they weren't too established and not maintained at all but could have potential if they were cut or cleared out a little better. Sorry... no good info.

I went up to check out Bristle-cone today.... still snowed in. So I tried out that 5 miler at sawmill camp ground. Nice little change from the desert riding and ran into a stunning women on horseback.

There's ST at sawmill/blue tree but its mellow,
The 7-11(Elvis Presta for the ol skool) trail leaves from mile marker 7 on the crossover and finishes close to marker 11 on lee canyon road but it's faint in spots....."I believe" somewhere along the trail there is a turn off on to old horse trail that will take you into lucky strike where you could conceivably tie into twilight or at least ride all the way down to the 95 on dirt road.

I'd love to post pictures of the sawmill trail.... but, alas, I have no idea how to do that. How does a personal photo have a URL?

Found a ST DH run with hand built ramps and bridges, it was at the Long Loop parking area right above the DH Pixie Trail. The entrance is kind of hidden by the Long Loop Trail Sign. It was really steep for me but fun has hell! It threw me out by Robbers Roost. Does anyone know the name of this trail? Thanks

Its a newer trail up there, every time I have ridden it it is a big rut on account of being so steep and the type of kitty litter dirt that we have on charleston. Lots of work went nto all those berms and drops.i

Yes I think the name fits the trail
I thought you were talking about a different trail, I posted the name above and you said it was a different newer trail( Atleast thats what I thought, my reading comprehension might be going on me though) then you posted a video of chutes and ladders.
So...are talking about chutes and ladders or something newer????

Sorry for the confusion....I was talking about chutes and ladders and I was commenting on the trail. My understanding is that chutes and ladders is the newest of the trails up there....

is that trail starting at the same point of the "other DH trails" up there? and ends by "the big tree"? or is it a total different trail system, if it's different, anybody wants to shuttle? I got truck and bike ready, just let me know

It ties into the other trails....I'd love to get in some riding tomorrow, I probably have enough time to get 2 shuttles in. Do you want to meet at the tree at 11am?

B, dont be disappointed. Its not techinical in the slightest, a cruiser through the pines, good for lil ones, begineers, etc. However there is a trail(signed for mtb) not sure, who or when it was done that cuts off and crosses the paved road(156) below the main parking lot and drops into the cyn. its a lil more your style put em together and its a lil better

Thanks...I'll have to check that out. Just in the mood for some exploring. If i can keep up a decent pace and be in the trees I'll be happy. Is the trail that crosses the highway easy to spot?

Yeah, last time I was there it was signed with a brown marker, its off the jeep road that you use to make a loop that is below the parking area..runs parallel to the paved road(156).

I have asked the resort this a couple of times and the answer has been NO.....its in the plans but not this year. I even asked if they would let me take my bike in hand up the lift with frisbee golf frisbees in my pack and that was a NO as well.

Good question...One late afternoon I went up to do Bristlecone and ran into an Josh from the resort, I asked if there was anything to explore on my bike off of the resort. He didnt know of anything and told me to feel free to explore as they we all leaving for the day. Because of time and daylight I didnt hike up anything. Im not sure what the official resort stance is on hiking up with your bike......but there are alot of spots where you could go unseen.
