Kings canyon --> Ash Canyon open?

I'm new to lake Tahoe and I've been looking for snow-free rides near here this time of year. I saw a thread or two about Ash canyon out of Carson City and the construction of a connector trail to Kings canyon in 2012. Does anyone know if this is done yet? If not, does anyone know who to contact to help build it?

    Thanks,
    SW

They just started the construction at the end of the summer last year. All construction currently is being done by volunteers so estimated completion of the trail is not for a couple more years (should add about 5 miles of riding between the two canyons.

However, the trails at Ash Canyon are all pretty well open except for Creek Trail, which the last part of it is on the northwest facing side so it is under ice right now. Last I heard, pretty much everything else is open and rideable with a small amount of mud.

If you are looking for something else in Carson you could also try Centennial park. Buddy was out there doing some work recently and everything seemed to be pretty dry with only 1 or 2 mud patches. I am planning on hitting one of the two up this weekend, wind permitting.
