Bootleg Canyon Trip for Jan/Feb 2013

I'm wanting to plan a trip to Bootleg for my first time this winter. I'm thinking of shipping my demo, or should I rent one?

I see All Mountain Cyclery in Boulder City runs a shuttle but for $5 per trip. How long are the runs? Out east at Snowshoe, where I'm from, we can get our runs in at top speed in about 4.5 minutes, so 8-12 runs a day is nothing new. How many runs a day can I expect and is there something better like bring some beer and shuttle with locals?

I'm thinking Thursday-Tuesday trip, So I'm guessing push bike or hit some XC.

Looking on the booking site, I seen a place for $19 a night called Fiesta hotel, its in Henderson. Okay to stay is there something better, cheap, for the non Vegas type that just wants to ride DH but not stay in a roach motel?

    Best,
    Levi

Fiesta Henderson is a decent hotel. I have stayed there before, worth the $19. Fairly close to Bootleg, but you will still need to rent a car to get out there.

If I remember right, the shuttles are only on Saturdays, so I would double check before planning your trip.

Shuttles usually run Friday thru Sunday. 8-10 runs is optimistic. They usually charge $30 for the whole day if you don't want to pay per run.

You can camp at Lake Mead, 10 mins from Bootleg. Not sure of any details. Lake Mead National Rec.

Camping: Many people just park in the parking lot at Bootleg Canyon for free. There is a bathroom and shower there.

    Hotel/Casino:
Hacienda and the Railroad Pass are a little closer. Still a Casino, like the Fiesta, but closer. Rooms might $29.00 but s long as you don't gamble, it cheap. Inexpensive food at those places too.

    Race Weekend:

We will be hosting DH and SD race on January 19 & 20, so there are no private shuttles that weekend. Since we always have 2 or 3 shuttle vehicles, non racers are welcome to rides for $20.00 per day.
