    Titanium frame ride...really

Time for a new hardtail (current ride is 26" unforgiving aluminum frame). I am a big fan of big wheels, and I have friends who swear by their steel frames (both Niners). Problem is they are small/medium frames and I am XL so can't really test the ride. But the idea of a hardtail with compliant ride (comfort) is REALLY appealing.

So my question is for anyone who has ridden a handful of steel frames as well a titanium moto. I figure construction probably matters as much as material. How do the rides compare in terms of stiffness?

    Thanks in advance.

I came from a Cannondale to a Ti Moto and it's a night and day difference. Of course the Cannondale was super stiff so it was a drastic difference. I find the Moto is very comfortable on long rides and I don't feel beat up at the end of the day. I do ride some steal frames(road/cx/vintage mtb) and think the Ti is very similar to my steel frames, but I don't ride them in as rough of terrain so it's not a direct comparison.

I can only compare mine to a BMC TE29. The BMC, while a simply awesome machine, was just stiff, stiff, stiff. The Ti Moto is a night and day difference in compliance. I have ridden a steel but it has been awhile. I still think the Ti is a softer ride.

This is great feedback, really helps given I am buying this thing online.

Thanks everyone and any more stories about the great ride would be appreciated, keep me stoked as I wait here patiently for new stock at BD.

I had a Fisher Paragon Al 29er before the Moto ti 29er----what a difference. Much smoother ride and really no more slop hammering out of the saddle. Nothing like a FS bike though...know what you're getting.

Also have a 26er ti Mongoose. That frame is straight gauge and a bit stiffer.
