I received by brand new Fantom Trail DS by UPS last week. I just finished putting it all together on Saturday (it didn't take that long - I just didn't have a lot of time to devote to the job all at once). It really was not too much work, although it would have been nice to know AHEAD OF TIME that I would need a T25 torx bit. :madman:
Anyway, I took it out for a quick spin up the block and noticed something strange with the front wheel right away. The tire appears to be closer to the left fork than to the right fork. I* didn't measure the distance (yet), but it is very obviously not centered. I thought maybe the forks might be off-center to make room for the brake disc, but I dismissed that thought since the tire appears to be closer to the same fork that the brake is on. The hub appears to be fine, installed correctly, and centered. The brake works fine, too. I think the spokes are tightened in a way that has the rim not centered properly aligned with the hub.
Is this a common issue with Motobecane bikes, or with any brand bike for that matter?
Is it worth trying to contact BikeDirect about it, or should I just assume that the spokes were not tightened correctly and start loosening half the spokes while tightening the other half to get the rim centered with the hub again?
Any advice appreciated.
