Have the prices increased this year, specifically hardtail 29er?

I'm pretty noob and in the market to grab a fantom29 bike. Looking through old threads, it seems prices have increased.

    e.g.,
2010 fantom 29pro sl $900 on clearance (believe it was $1000 originally), with reba fork
Save up to 60% off 29ER Mountain Bikes - MTB - Motobecane Fantom 29PRO SL
    2012 fantom 29 x9, $1100, with reba fork
Save up to 60% off new Mountain Bikes - MTB - Motobecane Fantom 29PRO

    link to all 29er bikes

Is this a seasonal thing, should I wait until winter to score a bike? Or is the drivetrains better on the 2012s?

Here's a price comparison I did with some bikes in a similar price level. Posting here in case it interests some people, I had to pay tax on the sette, so if you're looking to compare, make sure to take $100 off if you don't live in California.

Most 29er hardtails are sold out in the common sizes (med/17). I was told they may restock in April/May time frame.

According to your own chart you are comparing Apples to Oranges. The frames you compare are different; one being Titanium, the other Aluminum. That alone would account for the price difference! Go Ti baby!

True that! The component specs between the two are comparable as well. That's a hard call. I guess it comes down to do you like one set of components over the other; especially considering you probably won't get a chance to test ride the Motos before purchase. Tough call for you, easy for me.......I'd get the Ti baby!
